Ingredients

3/4 pound scallop

If available:

1 teaspoon oil

Steps

  1. Place skillet on stove under high heat.

  2. Add oil to coat skillet.

  3. Separate each scallop flat from each other onto skillet.

  4. Flip scallop when crust develops. Approximately half a minute.

  5. Transfer scallop to serving plate when crust develops on the other side. Pour juice, if any, from skillet onto scallop.

  6. Eat while warm and fresh. Sample the umami juice as well.

Notes

  1. Seared fresh scallops are best consumed without seasoning. If desired, a dash of lemon juice and a little minced garlic might not distract too much from the natural tastiness
