Ingredients
2 ounces rice
1 pork chop
1 onion
If available:
1 tablespoon mirin
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon sake
1/5 teaspoon dashi
1 piece seaweed
1 green onion
Steps
Measure rice into rice cooker or pot.
Wash the rice.
Add water to twice the height of rice.
Cook rice. If using pot, start at medium heat; reduce to low when water bubbles.
Use a small pot with lid.
Fifteen minutes before serving, mix mirin, soy sauce, sake, and dashi in pot. Warm up under medium heat.
Cut onion into 1-cm to 1/2-inch pieces. Put into pot.
Cut pork chop into 1-cm to 1/2-inch stripes. Put into pot and stir. Cover pot; reduce heat to low when mixture bubbles.
Cut seaweed into small pieces. Add to pot and cook for ten minutes.
Before serving, cut scallion into thin rounds. Add to pot and turn off stove.
Spoon pork chop and onion with sauce over rice and serve.
