Penne With A Chinese Bend

Penne with a sauce that is neither red nor white.

Ingredients

1 1/2 pounds penne

2 Chinese sausage

6 ounces shiitake mushroom

4 pieces sun dried tomato

2 tablespoons capers

4 stems broccolini

If available:

1 bulb garlic

Steps

  1. Simmer sauce.

    • Warm pan under medium-low heat.

    • Mince garlic. Add garlic to pan.

    • Cut Chinese sausage into small pieces, about 1/2-cm or 1/5-inch. Add Chinese sausage to pan and stir.

    • Cut shiitake mushroom into 1/2-cm or 1/5-inch stripe. Add to pan and stir.

    • Cut sun dried tomato into 1/2-cm or 1/5-inch stripe. Add to pan and stir.

    • Roughly chop capers. Add to pan and stir.

    • Cover pan and let simmer.

  2. Cook penne.

    • Bring a pot of water to a boil.

    • Put penne into boiling water.

    • Let cook until almost al dente, about three to five minutes.

  3. Combine pasta with sauce.

    • Add penne to pan with sauce. Cover and continue to simmer.

    • Cut broccolini into 3-cm or 1-inch pieces. Add broccolini to pan and stir.

    • Cover and cook for five more minutes.

  4. Serve immediately.
