Tangyuan is also called glutinous rice ball. It is a traditional Chinese dessert of glutinous rice flour shaped into balls. A homophone for union, tangyuan symbolizes togetherness and completeness.

Ingredients

20 grams glutinous rice flour

18 grams water

5 grams sugar

200 grams soy milk

Steps

  1. Create the glutinous rice balls.

    • Mix glutinous rice flour and sugar in a bowl.

    • Add water and knead until well-integrated into glutinous rice flour.

    • Divide dough into eight equal portions. Shape each into a ball by placing and rotating between palms.

  2. Cook.

    • Add soy milk to a pot.

    • Immerse rice balls into soy milk.

    • Cook under medium-low heat until rice balls float. About fifteen minutes.

  3. Serve when everyone comes together.
